The Chinese-Canadian Women Writers Association recently wrapped up its International Symposium on Chinese Women’s Literature, held in Vancouver to mark the organization’s 8th anniversary. The event was split into two sessions: an expert forum in the morning and an exclusive member work-sharing session in the afternoon. A highlight of the day was a special honor conferral ceremony, at which Ms. Liao Hongwei, President of Respon International Group and Chair of the Botrich Family Wealth Inheritance & Development Centre, was officially named the Association’s Lifetime Honorary Chairwoman, in recognition of her long-term backing and outstanding contributions to the association.
The grand gathering drew a stellar lineup of distinguished scholars and literary figures from China and overseas. Key distinguished guests in attendance included:
- Professor Ai You, Director of the Research Center for Chinese Women’s Culture at Capital Normal University, representative of the co-organizer;
- Ms. Liao Hongwei, President of Respon International Group, sponsor of the conference;
- Professor Zhou Zhixiong from the School of Liberal Arts, Anhui University;
- Professor Liu Yun, Doctoral Supervisor, Anhui University;
- Professor Wang Chengxia, Yangzhou University;
- Professor Sun Xiaodong and Dr. Ye Yunhong, Yancheng Teachers University;

Attendees engaged in in-depth discussions over core themes including the canonization of Chinese women’s literature, identity construction, and cross-cultural narration. Complementary activities such as university panel dialogues and cultural field visits were also arranged, as participants collectively explored the developmental path of Chinese women’s literature.
